Fabulous Friday Finish!

First of all the Fabulous Friday Fat Quarters..(I think I'm a week behind on showing them to you)...

Here is a photo from the collection so far. I am about done except for a couple of matching blenders from the set...these are going to be so good for Ahhhh's!

I've had a finish for awhile. I think it's time to show you. Although this little quilt has plenty of mistakes, I am very proud of myself for working through it. After several attempts at the applique, I know MY favorite method, and I think the only other person that does it the same as me is Bea. I like to use Ricky Tims' Poly Stable Stuff on the inside, glue baste in place, then applique it down. Finally I am not intimidated by hand applique!!!

This quilt is for Jerry's great niece. I don't even know when the baby is due, but probably not too long from now. The quilt is already in Texas awaiting Shyanne's arrival.

Oh that quilt is so cute...I'm sure baby Shyanne will love it...
You know what, I reckon whatever method works for you is the right one...I am surrounded by those who think there is only one way to do applique - needle turn their way - and that isn't the way I do it (I do it the way I was taught back in the 1980's and it works for me) so basically I only applique in company with certain friends so I don't get "told" all the time...mind you, I am the one who has been doing this stuff the longest but they are all "experts"!...as long as it makes you happy what does it matter how you get there...someone had a go at me last weekend for using scissors and templates and not rotary cutting because that is so much quicker...it was not appropriate for what I was doing but hey, she's been quilting for about 2 years now so she knows all!!

are WE the only oddballs who thread baste? I read the paper inside the package from paper pieces and that's what it says to do.... nah, I'm sure Bonnie hunter does it too btw.... :-) your collection is looking nice, so you're doing hexies with them? can't wait to see.... and such a cute baby quilt!

One day I WILL get to grips with applique. I am OK with doing it by hand, but not with a machine.

Meanwhile, those fabrics are going to make a gorgeous quilt, and the baby quilt is just so cute.

It's funny you should mention applique, cos I just finished blanket stitching my turtles down. LOL By machine, of course...love, love the baby quilt. I know it will be treasured. Hope you are doing well! :)
